Much like poetry, narrative plays a role in the Bible. God designed human beings to engage in narrative and story. It is as much innate as it is enjoyable. Whether fiction or non-fiction, stories have changed the course of cultures and individual human beings by directing people towards the correct path, whether it be directly or indirectly. Think of the monumental works that penetrate our culture - works like The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and The Pilgrim's Progress. Some people may not like engaging with religion, but one can be sure that people love to engage with a thrilling story. Writing a novel can be an efficient way to build up the Kingdom of the Lord.
